9005 / 3165 combo?

Roger,
I have the 9005 skimmer for a 46gallon. Can the 3165 filter connect to the 9005 in a similar way that it does to the Nano skimmer?

And I guess I could use magnets to hold both in place?

The 3165 on it's own won't work with a magnet holder. It won't connect to the 9005 either. Why do you feel you need it and mayybe I can suggest something.

Thanks for the info. I'm concerned about surface scum. Tank is still cycling, and the skimmer is brand new - so I'm not sure that I've got a problem yet.
I'd considered the larger 9005/surface skimmer combo that you recommended, but too much money and space.

Maybe I should have just gone with the 3165/Nano combo.
Or maybe I'm worrying too much. ?

I would say if your flow is sufficient their shouldn't be any surface film. The 3165 could take care of this though if some develops.
