I have a Tunze 9005 skimmer and just got my sump going(tank's been set up for a couple years). My quesiton is there is a hole in the upper back panel of the skimmer, is this supposed to remain open or should there be something plugging it? Everything else is set up just as the instructions say, but I wasn't sure about that hole.

The skmmer's only been going for a few days now, but I've yet to be able to adjust it so the foam head rises halfway up into the cup. Do you guys have any tips for adjustment on this skimmer. I'm pretty excited about how quiet this thing is and I'm really going to like when I get it tuned in and skimming!

Thanks for the help

The hole must remain open for use without the extension set. With the extension set it can be plugged.

I would not adjust based on foam height, adjust based on what collects in the cup, start with the screw open 3 full turns, give it a week, after that open and close in 1/4 turn increments to get dark tea colored skimmate.

Thanks for the reply. It's started collecting skimmate already, I was just being impatient. I should know by now to wait things out a bit before rushing out and asking questions! Anyway, it was a fairly light brown color so I dialed the airflow back a bit and we'll see how it looks after a few days at this setting. Thanks again for the reply!
