9005 Skimmer.. Is this ok?

One more question..

Does it need the tube with the sponge? or can i take it off and put the magnet holder on it and let it run without the tube..??

If you don't use the tube, the water must be constant at the water line. The water line can fluctuate from 4-10" if the tube is used.
