9006 with sump kit issue

I bought a 9006 skimmer back in March. I have had nothing but issues with it. I had it running good for about a month and it got clogged. I cleaned it out and now I can't get it started again. I can get foam but it doesn't rise into the collection cup. Water just sits in the stand pipe and doesn't flow up and out like it did when I had it running good. I 'm just tired of messing with it all the time. One thing I do notice is the tube that the pump sets in is at an angle. Is that normal. I tried to move it but can't . Maybe the pump isn't sealing good enough around the tube when i put the pump in?

I am not clear about what could clog? There really are not any small openings that should be capable of clogging. Water must exit the stand pipe if the optional extension set is installed for the skimmer to function. The usual cause of water no exiting the stand pipe is a slightly open bottom plate. This must be fully seated or water seeps from the bottom. Another possibility is omitting the sleeve below cover that connects the pump to the intake grate. This must sit so the hole in the back is over the pump intake. It is also possible the pump has a defect. You are welcome to send it in, I will go over it with a fine tooth comb and replace anything that is an issue. If you send it in, I don't need the cup or external magnet holder, I would prefer these are not sent as the cup is easily broken in transit and the magnet adds weight.

I ended up upgrading the pump to the 9011 and larger skimmer cup. It is now working like a champ. The old 9006 pump was pulling out about 100ml a week. The new pump is pulling out about 200 ml per day. HUGE INCREASE.. I think there may have been something wrong with the pump?

That is possible, however you did essentially upgrade to a 9011 which has a pump that has about twice the power so it is likely that alone has resulted in the increase in performance. As a general rule I only recommend the 9006 for one specific circumstance- use under a canopy where the 9011 will not fit, that is what it is designed for. If you are using a 9006 in sump, by the time you buy the extension set 9005.400 which is included with a 9011, you are only about $30 away from having the 9011 which is a much stronger skimmer.
