9010 and kalkwasser

New 9010 is set up in my sump and working fine-but in the manual it mentioned it being easily clogged by too much lime.I add kalkwasser to the sump 3-4 times per week at least-is that going to be a problem? Thanks! cherie

The reference is in regard to aquaria being run with high calcium levels higher then seawater (more then 410 ppm) as this results in excessive calcium deposits on the impeller assembly, in this case more frequent cleaning of the pump housing and impeller is needed.

Will it shorten the life of the skimmer?

When Ca levels are higher then natural seawater deposits of calcium can be formed on the impellor and this results in more regular cleaning and may lead to a shorter life.
