When installing the pump into the skimmer body, the output of the pump (with venturi attachment) slides into the tube inside the skimmer? The input is secured by the attachment through the grating at the base. What I want to know, simply, is: are both the input and output secured into something with proper assembly?

Yes, the outlet inserts in the green "jet pipe" in the skimmer and the inlet inserts into the coupler between screen and pump.
