9010 Lots of microbubbles

I get lots of microbubbles coming out of the pipe (one with the blue sponge).

Water in sump is about 9". The air screw is open about 2 revolutions, but the amount of bubbles doesn't change if I close or open it all the way.

The bubbles are definitely coming from the skimmer. If I turn it off, no bubbles in the display. I have to use the green sponge blocks to reduce bubbles got sucked into the return pump.

btw, the skimmer has been running for over a month, so I should break in already.

Some bubbles will normally exit this pipe, the sponge should trap the majority of them. Raising the water level will definitely help. The skimmer body is only about 11" tall. I would raise the water level as it appears to be only about 5-6" submerged in the photo, if the water falls a shorter distance the bubbles will have more time to rise up.
