9010 or 9015

Im looking at the 9015 skimmer for my 120 reef. I plan on having sps and I want a skimmer that can keep up with a heavy bio load. Is the 9015 the same as the 9010 but with a bigger collection cup so you dont have to empty it as often? I have heard that the 9015 is more for people who want a dryer skimate and the 9010 for wetter. So Im not sure witch one would be right for me.

The pump and body are identical on the two, the taller cup on the 9015 allows the air to be run wide open. I would go with the 9015 or the 9020, or even better, one of the Master DOCs on a 120 SPS system.

Oops. Didn't see I was in the Tunze forum. I love my Tunze 6101 pump. I was considering their skimmers as well.

Thanks, i'm not sure what the master DOCs are but I will look into it.

Ouch.... the smallest master DOC is about $800. I was looking to only spend around $450. I just need to make sure the 9015 is going to be big enough for my needs. I dont want to upgrade in the future.

My 9010 handles my 150, medium stocked tank fine. If my stocking levels increase much more, I may consider buying just the 9015 collection cup, upgrading my 9010 to a 9015.

The cost of the 9010 plus the upgrade part is about the same price as a 9015. I know you said you didn't want to upgrade in the future, but this is really a 5 second replacement of the collection cup.
