i turned off the skimmer and when i turned it back on it wasn't working correctly. i then cleaned the pump and reassembled and it still isn't working. their is no water coming out of the exit pipe and the water level inside the skimmer is low. it is still making bubbles. so what am i doing wrong ?

How long have you been using the skimmer? I suspect it is some wear or a stuck part on the drive unit. Tell me how old it is and we can start from there.

Check if the upper bearing is stuck to the magnet, see the first thread in this forum. The pictures are for a Stream but the skimmer pump is virtually identical. The other possibility is the magnet is not engaging the shaft, hold the magnet in one hand and turn the impeller if it turns 360 that is the problem.

the bearing is not stuck and when i hold the magnet the impeller will spin a little less than 180 degres. when i plug the pump in it spins and seems to be working correctly.

It sounds like the pump works it just isn't taking in air. Check the hose connections inside the skimmer and be sure the nipple is fully inserted in the venturi nozzle. It would also be worth cleaning the nozzle but be sure to not scratch it.

just took it apart again checked all fittings blew through the little hose to make sure it wasn't cloged. still nothing. now i'm wondering if it is the motor. it definately spins. when i plug it in by it self it does rattel a little but no more than a maxijet. it seems to be working a little better now but still no water coming out of the exit pipe and water in skimmer is low.

The motors generally work or they don't. There isn't much in between. If the bottom cover is loose or the coupler came out from between the pump and intake this would reduce the pressure inside and prevent the water from rising. If you can't get it working you are welcome to send it in.

about a month ago i had removed the skimmer and one of the plastic pieces that hold on the suction cups broke off so i switched it to hang on instead of sit in. when u mentiond the loose door it made me think i should try the old one with suction cups and it works now. so i guess i just need to order a new bottom door. i still cant figure out how this fixed the problem concidering it is designed to work either way and was working fine with the other door for at least a month. btw can you tell me the part # for the door with cups.

We have that part but I can also send you a new nipple for free to glue on. The other shutter door only works when the water level is up to the line and the water drains out the slits rather than the pipe, it works in different conditions. That set up is designed for in tank use where the outlet pipe is not used.
