9010 questions

I just received my 9010 and am not quite sure if its set-up correctly. My main concern is the hole in the back of the main housing between the holder attachments. I am using this in sump, but is not against my sump wall; and when the unit is turned on, a stream of water jets out of the hole. Is this correct operation?

Yes, in these skimmers the water acts as a gasket forcing the air upwards and eliminating the need for any sort of union or seal for the cup, the water has to be able to escape. If you run the sump level low enough you can cover the hole.
