9010 questions

Hey Roger. I bought my 9010 one year ago this month. I've always cleaned the cup out but never the body of the skimmer. Last week I noticed that the skimmer was not performing like it used to. It was creating plenty of foam, but it just wasn't making it to the cup, it would kinda stop just short of it. I wasn't producing more that 100ml of skimmate in a week. After reading some posts here on the Tunze forum I decided to take your advice to another poster and clean the skimmer in a bucket with vinegar. It seemed to really do the trick. I produced 100ml of skimmate overnight.

my question is this. Since I have put the skimmer back in the tank, I have millions of micro bubbles. Is this just because it's like a brand new skimmer and needs to break in again? Also, my venturi nozzle seems to be broken. It's not the piece that goes onto the pump, but the piece that sits over that. at the bottom of the piece, where the hole is, it's split. It still seems to work okay though.

Thanks

hey roger, it's the part of the hydrofoamer, the top part that slide onto the top of the pump, where you insert the air nozzle.

You will get more microbubbles after cleaning, assuming it is put together correctly these should diminish over time. If you PM me your address I will sned a new nozzle.

PM Sent.

Roger, I can't say that I'm too happy with my 9010 right now, but I will say that your service is awesome.

Thanks.

As far as the 9010, I'm still not getting much skimmate, and I still have a ton of microbubbles. Since Sunday (it's now thursday), it has only produced 110ml of skimmate. This is sub par for my tunze. Do you have any ideas?

Double check that everything is properly assembled. I would guess that the outlet of the pump is not seated inside the clear jet pipe, this could be a technical cause of both problems you describe. You lose contact time and the bubbles will escape because they miss the baffle plates and are just free in the skimmer body.
