9010 Skimmer Question?

I've been working w/ Patrick @ saltwater fantaseas to get the bugs worked out on my 9010. So my question is what would you recommend trying, so that it wont expell so many mirco-bubbles (seems to be alot to much). Any Ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

VeeDub,

If you have only had the skimmer running a short while you could give it more time also re assemble the unit to make sure all parts are positioned correctly. Do a quick search in the Tunze forum using "micro skimmer" will give you a few more ideas to try.

Best Regards
Graeme

Is it set up in tank or in sump? As Graeme said this is more of an issue for the first couple weeks and then the bubbles start to reduce in number.

It's in my sump, it was working fine for a while, then it just started freakin out a short while ago, but I will investigate more, thanks for all the help.

Did you add anything, any sort of colloid or amino/vitamin additive or something like a cyanobacteria killer would definitely do this.

I added some melafix like a week ago or so, then remembered to plug my skimmer back in, just a couple days ago. Normally it just causes the skimmer to foam over. But for a short while today it stopped and went back to normal no extra bubbles. But now it's continuing to expel bubbles into my tank. Should I pull the skimmer out and give it a thorough scrubbing, or just wait it out? Thanks for all your help.

I would wait it out, I suspect it is the Melafix doing this. When I had my shop Melafix was new and we used it alot on our freshwater tanks which had air powered sponge filters and it definitely changed the surface tension, we would get a lot of bubbles on the aquarium surface for about a week.

Im still getting the bubbles, but they seem to be a bit larger then micro bubbles. They seem to be several times larger then they used to be. Would you suspect that this is the skimmer or something wrong w/ my the plumbing in my tank? Again thanks for all your help.

VeeDub,

You could try turning off your skimmer for a few hours to see if the bubbles are coming from the plumbing or not.

Cheers
Graeme
