9010 skimmer questions (new user, new product)

Quick question.

I just bought the Tunze 9010, and it is super quiet. I am wondering though, where are the bubbles, OR, how high should the bubbles be? Should they be half way up the cup, or at the very bottom of the cup?

Mine currently (been running for less than 2 hours) is at the bottom of the cup. Foam bubbles have not collected inside the cup yet, but some skimmate gunk has piled a little bit on the inner wall of the cup. So basically, just wondering how high should the foam be?

***Also, since I am using the 9010 inside my tank, I went ahead and took off the tube that extended from the bottom portion of the skimmer, I don't think it is necessary for inside tank use, right?

**** Whats the bottom plate for? I took the bottom plate (the one where the four suction cups would hold). Is it needed for inside tank usage?

The instructions were not the best.

Usually a 9010 is delivered assembled for in tank use, did you buy it used? For in tank use the pipe should be reomved and a cap installed, the coupler between the pump and intake grate should also be removed and a bottom plate with slots is used in place of the solid one with feet.

You will set it to the correct water depth and open the screw 3-4 turns and wait a few days, it should start skimming within two days usually.

the foam has started to come up to the very top now! :)

one more question regarding the bottom plate. Do I need to place the lid at the bottom or take it off? Right now, the bottom lid (the one that has for the suction cups) is off, and the bottom of the skimmer has some openings. Should it stay like this?

I don't get this 5% or seventy percent thing. Do I keep the sliding lid open (at the bottom front-next to closed cap.) I already placed the cap on where the pipe was ;), but wondered how open the sliding lid should be.

I think all is well though, since it is starting to skim. So basically wondering about the very bottom. Should it be open or closed for an in-tank use?

THANKS!!!

The sliding lid should be full open for max performance, closed if you have trouble with microbubbles or want plankton safe skimming.

The bottom plate that is correct for the installation should have three slits in it.
