Hello, I hope I am in the right place here. I purchased a protein skimmer last summer anticipating a fish tank upgrade. Well, after a lot of problems and savings, I am actually getting ready to set up my new tank. I tried running the skimmer for the first time, however nothing happened. I took apart and reassembled according to the instructions and nothing is still hapening. I took the pump and plugged it in and all I can her is a very slight hum, however, no movement whatsoever from the impeller...could I please send this skimmer in for a look and see what is wrong with it? I would really appreciate it. I am located in Indiana. If you could please tell me what address to send.
Thank you very much in advance for your help.

Since it is the weekend you've got the opportunity to try to get it to work before Monday. I know there are a lot of people on here that can give you a hand getting it working.

Here is what I would do:
1) Disassemble the skimmer removing the pump

2) Test the pump once again in a bucket of water

3) If it still doesn't work then I would disassemble the pump. It comes apart a little different than many pumps in the hobby. There are two "clips" that hold what I'll call the main pump housing and the portion that covers the impeller. The clips pull away perpendicular to the axis of the impeller. Once you get the clips off you can remove the volute (the housing where the water enters the pump). After removing the volute you can ensure that the impeller rotates freely on its shaft etc.

4) Reassemble and retest
