9010 & Water Level

I'm very close to selecting a 9010 to run inside my 65g tank (no sump, currently running a Remora). I've read that the DOC skimmers need a constant water level. I don't have an ATO yet and am adding about 1-2 qts of water per day to top off the tank. The water level may change from 1/4 inch to even up to 1/2 inch at times.

How constant does the water level have to be? Do I need to invest in an ATO before getting this skimmer?

Thanks

The less fluctuation the better but below 1/2" in fluctuation is not going to be a huge issue, skimming may be impacted for up to an hour after you top off and then it will return to normal. It is more the change in salinity that will have the impact though and skimming probably won't stop it will just slow.

Thanks, that sounds similar to what I'm currently experiencing with the Remora after topping off. From what I'm reading, the 9010 will blow away the Remora though.
