9010?

Just purchased the 9010. Right now I'm using it to cure LR in the RM. Should the output pipe and foam cartridge be installed for this??
Also, it's creating foam, but not reaching the cup. When I first placed it in the container(two days ago), within an hour it was collecting a lot. Now, it's not even reaching the cup. I have the air adjustment screw open 3/4's. And the water seems pretty murky.

Is this normal?

I would be willing to bet that the output pipe and foam cartridge doesn't need to be used in the Rubbermaid tub. However, I can not be certain about this. I would set up the skimmer like I was using it in an intank setup instead of in sump.

My new 9005 has been pulling crud like crazy. I love these Tunze skimmers.

I hope it starts functioning better for ya.

It still has to break in even though it might have started collecting in the first hour or so.

The cup must be cleaned often for the skimmate to go over if the cup is strewn with debris.

I agree. Keep the cup clean. I have been cleaning the new one everyday for the last week since the cup/tube gets a pretty heavy coat of slime on it.

I experienced zero break in times with my two Tunze skimmers. That may not be the norm. They both started skimming effectively on day 1.

Good luck.

At this time I do not have the output pipe and foam cartridge installed. I have it submerged to the blue water line on the 9010. I will try cleaning the cup more often.

Thanks!

The 9010 has been collecting a lot of stuff.

Now, I'm moving everything to my new tank. The 9010 will be in my 20G sump, do I use the output pipe and foam cartridge? Or is that used for HOB.

You will use the outlet pipe but be sure to follow the directions and install the other bottom plate and the coupler for the pump.
