9015 problem

Hi Roger,

Sorry to always bother you, it seems I really have a bad batch of products. Ok my 9015 is giving me problems now. In sump it was working perfectly, now that I have placed it in my 55G it's problem after problem. I replaced all the parts for in tank operation, and it was working well, extremely well actually as I mentioned in a prior post. Now however, the level in the column is barely 1 cm high even with the air intake fully open, result is all the gunk is accumulating in the riser column.

Second problem, every time i switch off the skimmer to clean the cup, it won't turn back on. Can just hear a slight vibrating sound but nothing more. I have to remove it from the tank, take the pump apart, clean, reassemble and it seems to work again, but not to full power. The rotor is usually quite hot also as soon as i remove it from the tank, and this is only after i just try to plug it in and get that vibrating noise i was mentioning. There doesn't seem to be any major wear on the rotor, and all the other parts seem to fine to. There is a tiny amount of play once the rotor is back in place. I don't know if this is normal or not.

By the way I'm running the European 9015 220V/50 Hz......had to change the impeller to the 110V as the frequency here in Saudi is 60Hz....don't know if this is useful info since it was working well before.

What could be wrong?

These sorts of conversions are always difficult and problematic. My advice would be to call Tunze and speak with Mr. Tunze or Mr. Michelle (pronounce Mehk heal eh). They have been working on 230V 60Hz pumps for Korea and they will help you out.
