i have a 90gallon sps tank. with a mp40 'on each end and a tunze 6045 on each back corner, but it seems like all the corals and rock keep getting detritus on them. i keep cleaning them off but its getting old

I dont think if you put a jet engine in the tank that it would change. Particles will fall and settle continuously.

Hi, I have been doing this for years, buy a couple of Aquaclear power heads either the 50 or 70 size, and get two Aquaclear micron power filters those are $10 each, put one in each corner of tank. Micron refill packs of 2 are $4. Turn off main pump so nothing goes into sump, take a small misc power head and blow the rocks off, most of it will go to the Aquaclear setups, repeat after an hour. I do this when doing water changes, I normally also turn off my Tunze 6105 power heads at this time, so that the micron filters will suck up stuff faster.

Frequently, I will leave one of them on the tank all the time and change the filter once a week, you would not believe what those will pick up. It you do that I recommend using the 50 size and not the 70 size powerhead as the 50 will not blow out micro bubbles when filter gets real dirty, but the model 70 will.

Very interesting, got a picture of your tank? I have the exact same setup but in a 120, never had that problem. Aquascaping could be one, one overflow vs dual on siphoning the detritus, and I also run filtersocks.

I was going to say move the vortechs lower, but that will cause a sandstorm. Do you run filtersocks? So detritus is just sitting all over your LR and corals?

I have an MP60 on one side and a small Koralia on the other side for airation. If I really wanted to get all the detritus out, I'd just turn the Vortech to max. I wouldn't recommend it.

i moved one down didnt do anything...i think i just need two mp10 to replace the tunzes lol...has to be my rock work...i can tell i get great flow in the mid of the tank b/c my millies pe go crazy but pe on the right and left isnt as good and dosnt move to good.

i even thought i could put the tunze closer to the bottum of the tank

update:

i pointed the left side tunze stright down toward the corals and rocks...so im waiting to see how that turns out.

im thinking about picking up two mp10s and running them on green on the back wall lower in the tank
