So long story short, In early december I picked up an established 29 gal composed of 2 perc clowns and a neon goby. From day one I knew the 29 wouldnt quench my insatiable thirst for this hobby. Since about late December i've been slowly building a 90 gallon (will be mixed reef). The experience was a blast as I built my own sump, plumbing, and even reinforced the floors! My tank is now cycled and its time to put together my wishlist for slowly addition new additions. The two clowns and goby will remain.
I've called on this forum many times for advice, and it has made my journey extremely smooth, so Im doing it again.
On one of my rounds of LFS in the chicagoland area, I found the powder blue tang to be particularly striking. I was told that a 75min gal tank would be suitable, but was wary of this response seeing I know few tangs would be happy in that situation, my suspicion was confirmed by my local club.
So no big deal, I will not compromise the wellbeing of my livestock, regardless of how incredible I think this particular fish is.
So I ask for some suggestions, I've gone through blue zoo and other sites looking at various fish, but pictures dont really do it for me. So I will gather a list of possibilities and try to arrange to see them be it in other's tanks or LFSs.
The only fish i've really been considering are the chevron OR yellow tangs. I really want a mandarin but that is much further down the road when I'm able to successfully culture copepods or be fortunate enough to find one that eats prepared foods. There are some amazing looking dwarf angels, but as I understand its hit or miss in terms of reef safeness
So what do you guys think? Any particularly gorgeous fish (i know beauty is in the eye of the beholder) that I may have over looked?
