What is the internal water level for this skimmer?

Is this right?

Water is coming out if the hole in the side, not sure if it should do that or now.

Skimmer is on a shelf about 7.5" deep

The internal water level is very high and is cutting off the air. This middle chamber is the anti overfoaming system, it automatically cuts off air in a high surface tension situation that would cause a foam over. Water should be exiting that hole, it is the relief port that regulates this chamber, how much comes out will vary with surface tension. If you have added anything or the tank is new, this is likely normal. It could also be caused by having the filter bag too high on the stand pipe or the stand pipe not fully inserted. The filter bag is primarily a bubble trap, you can run without it if you have another way of preventing bubbles from reaching your return pump. If you swivel it the other way it will also catch the water from that drain hole.

Roger, thanks for the reply, the skimmer is new :) Just installed it.
The Post-Filter was not down enough, for some reason last night I could not get it down.

Should filter sock be away from the feed pump?

Either way I face it the water from the hole will not go into it, the hole is at the pipe. Other than the noise the water coming from the hole makes the skimmer is pulling stuff already and just needs to be adjusted to a dryer foam.

I would have the mount flush with the top of the stand pipe. Give it time and you can also close the air a little.

I currently have the pipe about 1" above the edge of the postfilter where the filter sock sits.

I have the air almost closed and am getting a nice foam right now. Now just to let it break in!
