A bubble tip without bubbles

When i first got my anemone all its tips were inflated but the base was very small and did not have a very large diameter. Now its base is very tall, about 4-5 " in diameter and also has no tentacles inflated the tentacles are about 2" in length.
1) what causes tentacles to deflate
2) if it has a reddish base with green on the ends of the tentacles with a neutral base what type is it?

In aquariums, E. quadicolor generally doesn't stay bubbled all the time, sometimes they never bubble. It is not a reflection on the anemones health one way or the other. No one knows for sure why they bubble, sometimes one of mine will have bubbles right beside another one that doesn't.

Yup! My RBTA will get its bubles everytime i feed it and the next day it will jut have huge long "arms" and out of the blue the bubles will return. It depends with each anemone.

I have two in the tank from a split. One of them is bigger than the other by quite a bit, it's been over a year since the split. The big one (8-9 inch diameter) bubbles out big time, the other one not as big.

Most of the time my BTAs do not have bubbles. My oldest one never seems to have bubbles anymore. His babies over a 2 or 3 year period will have them sometimes and other times they wont. I have 2 that are bubbled only on one side. I agree with garygb they are fine either way.

thanks for the help i got a maroon clown and now the anemone is very happy about three times its normal size

It looks like the anemone is kinda heart shaped and has a weird "line" going from the where the two halves of the heart meet to the mouth and it also goes down the foot... Is this what they do before they split?

Yes it is, you may very soon have 2 in your tank. Congratulations Mr. Buck, you're about to be a grandfather.

haha cool it hasnt seemed to change since yesterday im thinking about doing a 50% water change to stress it(in a 12g AP its very easy to do) i have heard they do it very quickly if they are stressed

Once Clown #1 found the new addition, the bubbles appeared???

Mine was the size of a half dollar with bubbles when I first got it. I used to feed it every other day and noticed the bubbled tips disappeared. After several splits (I have seven now about 6-8" in diameter.) It's been 3 years, and recently I started to feed once a month and noticed the bubble tips coming back on 2 of the anemones.

thats cool ... mine looks like it is splitting but its been about two days where it looks like it is seperating towards the top but i dont know.... how long should it take maybe it is just where it may have been damaged?

I've got 2 side by side, both about 4 inches across and neither have shown many bubbles but they have both more than trippled in size in the 5 months ive had them. I feed them shrimp and squid once a week.

Well thank you for all the help i think that mine might have gone because of it splitting because it seems to split more and more and then there is one half of it that has bubbles and the other half doesn't
so fingers crossed it is just splitting
