A chiller to control heavy feeding fish appetites?

Has anyone here run a chiller to control fish appetites?
I was wondering what are your reefs tank temps are? How many gallons is your tank and how many watts of light are you running? Thanks!

Tropical fish live in a fairly narrow range of temperatures. By the time you chill them down enough to make any noticeable difference in their appetites their health has been compromised.

Only if keeping cold water fish. My tanks run 76/77 F

Temperate fish, yes. Tropicals, never. While some tropicals will survive at 68, they will be just hanging in there as opposed to thriving.

It would kill them. I have recently HAD to do it to prevent a tank with no electricity completely dying over an 8 day period (cold slows decay and can stave off a crash, as heat accelerates one), but every day another species would go into distress and die. This is not something you would want to do. I did have 2 species survive it, but no. Get a better skimmer, and keep up with weekly water changes if you have a waste/nitrate problem.
