A clown hosting a hammer coral

I have 1 clwon in my tank and 3 heada of a beautiful hammer coral, how do i get the clown to host it ?????

Good luck getting the clowns to host what you want.
I have a pair that host an octospawn, which i'd prefer they not.
They also occasionally host a toadstool.
I have 2 rbta's in the tank, they have never gone near them. :(

In my other tank, the clowns host a sinularia.

By purposefully NOT giving all the necessary information, I was trying to make the OP think and do some research. But I guess some like to just spoon out information.

All the info? You gave him nothing and basically mocked him about confusing the words host and associate which is a common mistake.

You weren't trying to help him by not helping you where just being a jerk.

A good way to make your point would be to link him to the clownfish forum or an article and told him to read up

Then why bother to answer with a non answer?
Your non answer only caused confusion.
Why are you even on the forum then if you can find your answer with a search?
Just to troll?

I didn't answer his question because it had already been answered numerous times.

I attempted to correct his misuse by telling him what is wrong. How else would you tell him what is wrong?

"Clownfish don't host anemones or coral."

How less confusing can I be? It's a straightforward statement.

I'm on the forums to look for answers. And to see what problems others have so I can learn from it. And, yes, to answer questions others may have. But I'm not about to spoon feed answers to questions that can be answered by the OP himself.

I said NOT all the information. Reread my post.

"Clownfish don't host anemones and coral."

How is that confusing? And how did I mock him? Please tell me how that is mocking? It is a straightforward statement. Did I say he is stupid or an idiot for misusing the words?

The idea is for HIM/HER to want to go to the forums to learn more. Not for me to tell him/her to go to the forums. I'm not their superior telling them to do this or that.

All I did was to state a fact. When he asked "What....". I was going to suggest more research but organism already answered.

How would you state the fact that clownfish don't do the hosting?

When you're trying to be 'helpful' next time just be a bit more clear..

Here is an article to read about clownfish association.

However the correct answer to the op is there is no way to guarantee they will host a hammer. As others have said they often ignore their natural hosts in captivity.

I'm sorry but much 'more clear' can I be than what I posted?

Clownfish don't host anemones or corals.

Is this not clear enough?

How would you make it 'more clear'?

Clownfish don't host anemones and coral."
It is the anemone that does the hosting, while clownfish "associate"

One more sentence changes your answer from condescending to helpful

So pretty much, i might loose my hammer if the my clown starts swimming thru it?

It is possible
If the hammer feels threatened by the clownfish it will retract. If it stays refracted for prolonged periods it won't be able to feed or get light.

No, that changes my statement to an answer which is what I'm trying to NOT do.

I would clowns don't NEED a host in captivity though it is fun to watch their interaction.

Is your clownfish captive breed or wild caught?

You used the example of teaching a man to fish and you feed him for life.

Thats not what you did. You walked up to him said " hey thats not how to catch fish" and walked away

I have nothing further to say to you and you seem yo have nothing to add to the conversation so this is where we part ways.

That is correct. Because I not trying to teach him to fish but to how to find out how to fish.

You have not understood what I was trying to do anyway so no lose. Plus my help was not aimed at you. But guess what, I bet the next time the OP has a question, he/she will try to do a search 1st.

I understand.

As I posted earlier, I DID NOT answer your question because it had already been answered many many times already!

I stated a fact. That's all I did. Again, when you questioned "What...", I was going to suggest you research into that. But someone else answered your question.
