I believe they are always found in the sand in the wild. Could be that they feed off of critters swimming by at sand level or pods that wander into them. Search and I think you will find they are always taken from the sand in nature.

The are infected at the large holding tank level.There is a large thread here on RC.It was funded By RC members.It was also groundbreaking.Probley the reasion we lost a very cool person here on rc.I have my opions on the treatment of that person.IMO if he is a groundbreaker then why is he not here.Are we not here for the largest reason [taking care of our animals better].Reading this study is why I posted [They look sick] early in this thread.Is that not why we are here to learn not to buy sick animals so someone up the line will finily give a s%$@.Sorry to hijack your thread for my own soap box.I am not ripping on you Aquaticman74.I bought the same Elegance coral [Mine looked just like yours]and then read the Elegance coral study thread.Walked over to my tank took one look and sayed " it's sick"Then kicked myself.About 1 month later the coral crashed.Why are people kicked off RC for doing good?The reason for my rant is, my sinario ,and this one are perfect case and point exampels. If you anyone wants one of these corals first read the entire Elegance coral study then look for a healthy one in sonones tank and ask for a frag.This will do two things.First you will have a wonderful coral.Second it will reduce the demand for wild caught Elegance coral.I hope your purple tip makes it.If it does I would pay well for a frag......Once again this is not a post against you Aquaticman74.Im just missing reading the post of a Groundbreaker.
