If you click on the attachments he has them labeled as strawberry nebula and true rpe, maybe he can chime in to confirm this.

Thanks

Thanks

Thanks everybody!
They are all labeled with the names I think they are except for the one named Strawberry nebula. I named that one because I haven't seen it anywhere else. If anyone has seen it before please let me know. For now I think strawberry nebula is pretty cool.

Thanks Friday!
Whats the "Weeeeeeeeeeee" comment about?
If its because people are asking about the names, just for you we can call them palys.
I see that some people get really ticked off that people name them whatever they want. However, I don't see a problem with that. I think it is very funny that people get all uptight about the names. Will I trade some frags one day? Maybe. Will I call them palys? Yes, and if someone wants a name with them, well shoot I guess I'll have some fun and have my 10 year old son come up with a name, like "Strawberry nebula" its not like they are trademarked. I enjoy looking at coral and I thought I would share pictures of some beautiful corals. Call them space monkey balls and I'll still enjoy looking at them.
Relax its a hobby and it's fun. And little kids love coming up with names for corals.
If you get a dog do you call it dog? Well some people might but most enjoy coming up with a name. Names can be fun. Just like your name reminds me of fun. I love Friday Nights. Relax, enjoy the hobby, don't let something like names make the hobby stressful for you.

I think just making your own name up, while fun, can cause a lot of confusion for those people trying to identify what they actually have, and come up with a care and feeding solution. I know I try to do a ton of research before I pick something to put in my tank, and having just picked up some palys last nite, I have no idea what they are, so I'm spending a LOT of time trying to find them, and so far, am having no luck. The only reason I picked them up without knowing is because I've "heard of" button polyps, and know they're fairly easy to care for. But now that they're in the tank, I'd like to know the actual name for them.

Simply my opinion on making names for thing up. YMMV.

That said, they're pretty. :)

I see your point as far as it being confusing for some. I have over 60 different types of palys and zoas. I could only tell you half of the names. But in the end it is just a paly or zoanthid. Same care goes for both, start them low in the tank and slowly raise or don't raise.
As far as water conditions go, don't over skim, medium flow and NO MAJOR SWINGS of anything and walla you have beautiful paly any type and zoanthids any type.

There is no "coral gods" here and in any other place in the world when referring to cartoon names. If there is any, that's a fake god!! LOL!!!

You call them anything you want and have fun. That's how many do, even the people on the market, but they make good money doing that.
That's what cartoon names are about: basically to identify them for the market.

It's all good.

There is no fuzz about nothing related to names of zoanthids and palys.
It has been a normal way of communication for a while and will be for long time.

Friday was probably excited about the colors of the pictures, not about the names.

You can probably find more info about the names of your polyps here:
http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=484
That part of the forum is dedicated to the cartoon names.
Have fun!
