a few days of darkness ok for my sps tank?

Update here: Although I lost some of my largest sps pieces, I'm kind of happy this happened. Made me learn a lesson, and opened up some room for me to expand my coral variety. The monti plates were shading large areas of my tank, and the large acro that died is a breeding ground for red bugs. Hopefully with the removal of that and my other couple of acros that died off, I can squash the red bug problem ( no acros = no red bugs since they have nothing to eat). I may focus on lps for a while, and get some nice encrusting montis and some chalices to satisfy my need to buy coral. It also has given me a chance to mess around with my scape some. Hopefully I won't repeat this again

Last update since this is moving in a different direction from the original purpose of the thread. Did a 15 gallon water change today, and the corals already look more relaxed. As far as the red bugs, my total number of acros is only 8. so my plan is to buy a coral dip (suggestions here) and dip all of them regularly to see if I can chip away at the red bugs and eventually take them out all together. What's the best coral dip?

Bayer kills them instantly. check out the thread on it I love it. BTW I don't think intercepter is availableright now but I do recall seeing some threads about an alternative heartworm treatment but I'm not sure it works as I have never used it.
Were you able to get rid of the red slime? I use the red slime remover followed by 20%wc and dose again if needed.

Actually I did manage to kill the red slime! After the 4 days of darkness, I siphoned out the stuff that was left over and ran my GFO for two days. Ended up getting rid of it all! If it ever comes back same procedure as this time and it'l work. I think I may try revive coral dip first. I want to stay away from the bayer/interceptor etc since they'll kill all of my other inverts as well, and I don't wanna deal with getting a new cleanup crew.

The Bayer is a dip. I just make sure I rinse the coral with tank water from a water change and havent had any problems. If you do decide to go with revive dont dip a hawkins in it as it will kill it.

Two weeks ago I did a half dose of CHEMI CLEAN on my tank, because that was all I had left. It worked perfectly. So from now on I will use half a dose! It is cheaper and I am shure it is easier on my tank!

I can get Interceptor from a local vet, so it should still be available. It worked great to knock out the red bugs that were infesting my bonsai sps

I thought that it wasnt around due to the factory burning down or something to that effect. I'm still sitting on a few pills for a rainy day.
