a few drops of water in a 7096 controller

A very few drops of water ran down the cable of the pump and wound up inside my controller apparently. I opened it up blew out everything with air, dried it out completely. It seemed to work ok for a few hours, then it stopped. Now it has no power and wont connect though the usb to the computer. Is it most likely ruined?

If the damage is limited to a socket, it may be repairable, if the salt water actually reached the board, it won't be repairable, we would however discount a replacement if you sent it in. Just include a return address and phone number in the box-

i researched how to clean damaged circut boards. I held it under warm water for a while, then scrubbed with a toothbrush, Then i soaked the board in alcahol. when it dried out it took alittle work to flash the bios, but the controller is working like new again

Good news, in general any water used to wash a board needs to be incredibly pure any salt can make the problem worse. It sounds like the board was not badly damaged to begin with as generally the electricity and salt combine to make quick work of dissolving the thin copper on the board and this is what kills them.

I got lucky getting it to work. I figured the chance was pretty slim, but I didn't have anything to lose.
