A few notes on the forum name change and happenings lately

i dont think thats what you are trying to do fishdoc. what would be in it for anyone to try something like that. this a reef club put together for people to discuss a hobby. i guess if reefers will follow you the power would be amazing. lol

I don't see what the big problem is. Having this forum creates an outlet for members and non members to come together. Sharing info, lfs info, frags!
Imagine how limited your tank would be only having one of the 2 forums to pull from, regardless of which one.
Oh btw, banning because you got banned = bad behavior.
Please don't close this thread. Lol

I have to assume that you guys know this forum is being watched pretty closely right now. That being said, there is no plan on our part to moderate this forum any differently than any other. If nobody gives us reason to close threads, we're not going to close them.
No matter what you may have been told, Reef Central is here for the hobby and the hobbyist. As far as I'm concerned, less drama is more good. I believe the reason for the drama has been removed and that we can all get back to being hobbyists.
Enjoy :D

Your post will stay but you will need to send a PM explaining why you are posting under two user names.

I see you have been on line and chose to ignore my request so both accounts have been closed. You may send an email to geo@reefcentral.com if you would like to discuss reinstatement.

Just one question. Why does everybody say "clay-boa" that state the real location where many of the MTRC moved to?

ReefCentral automatically replaces the text. It's amusing, and why would they want to advertise for a competing forum. Google clay-boa. Hehe.

Okay. Well, I am glad RC restored this forum. Wiping it out reflected badly on RC in my opinion.

Also, I see no reason why local club members can not post both here and at xxx (just like I do) -- or at any other forum they like. The forum does not make the club, the club makes the forum.

And just so its clear, as almost always when this subject is brought up somebody blurts out "RC censors non-sponsors!" which absolutely isn't the case :). When a website/business has earned their spot on our censor list it was achieved through a continual pattern of person(s) coming on here and violating our User Agreement, giving us no other choice than as a last step to censor in order to stop the cycle of UA abuse.

It's understandable that you feel that way. Unfortunately, we were backed into a corner, our only option at the time was to remove the forum from public view. I don't think there was ever any doubt that it would eventually be restored, but with what was going on here, we felt it was best for the board and the vast majority of our membership to do what we did.
FWIW, we're glad the forum is back, too.

Chris - thank you for having this restored and the corals i got from you at the swap look great, i think its a great place to have a site for like minded people with out any boards or anything else to get in the way of having fun reefing

Glad some are pleased with the new forum:) Time will tell if it thrives or tanks. Needless to say the actions that have lead to this are very disturbing (to me anyway). We'll just have to see how it goes from here.

FWIW I have now had my MTRC membership revoked (the club I helped found and worked on for many years) for getting this forum reopened.

Sorry to hear it came to that Chris. At least you can take satisfaction in that you did the right thing.

Dave

Scott,

1. You're not even a member of this club as far as I know.

2. I'm done discussing it. You can be too if you'd like.
