wonderful fish we have similar taste in fish for sure!
Your BSJF is great how long have you had it? what is it's favourite food. Mine seems to prefer mysis but does eat the occasional pellets , i have even seen it take nori now and then lol. Do you have any idea on what their lifespans are 4-5 years longer?

kinlayan- I had him for roughly two years. I lost him to stupidity on my part. He jumped out of the tank. Mine was not a typical jawfish. He rarely stayed in his burrow and would even swim into my hand. I fed him Mysis, flake and silversides. I also kept the water temp. around 75-76.

What beautiful pictures! I especially love your little NPS setup!

Was also thinking of getting a blue spot jawfish, but was advised against it by some of the members here because of something called Blue Spot Jawfish..Syndrome? Have you hear of, or had any experience with that at all?

I have seen many people loose this species to some issue, wether or not it is an actual "disease", I do not know. In my honest opinion I feel as though the majority of these fish are lost to errors on the aquarists part. Too many people buy these amazing jawfish and stick them in systems that are in no way suitable. These fish need very peaceful tank mates and a calm and stable system. In my experience these fish are not difficult to keep. They tend to eat readily and are not overly shy fish. If a healthy specimen (fish from the live aquaria divers den) is acquired, I feel as though the aquarium keeper has a good chance provided the environment provided is suitable.

Just my .02.

Thanks for the advice and your opinion on it. =) I think I'm going to get a pearly jawfish just because they're...cheaper. lol my tank isn't covered either, and I'm not wanting to lose a 100 dollar fish to a hungry floor. ><

Will always be nagging me at the back of my mind as the one fish that I will someday have though!

You should cover your tank or not bother buying any jawfish at all. They are notorious jumpers in every sense of the word. Cheap or not, I think it's ill-advised to buy a fish like that without being able to care for it.

I don't mean to come off strong, but in general fish jump. Jawfish just happen to be one type of fish that are very prone to jumping.

Michael , you've owned some nice fish. The Potters and Flame together (I have the same, male flame, female potters) , did you ever see spawning?

I like the mitratus as well. How was that to keep?

Very nice collection, what type of anthias are those? Your pics of the multicolor angel pair makes me miss mine, he had to go back to the LFS after he started destoying SPS. Such a beautiful fish.
