I'm thinking about starting a tank, I've done alot of research and I know what to do. My question is I have no idea with plumbing and pumps, any usefull links on this? also what exactly do i need to buy to get my tank started ( Tank, Skimmer, Lights?)

Try the reefcentral FAQ section and read the reef magazine (on home page) every month for help.

You'll need the following:
1. Tank
2. Stand with or without canopy
3. Sump w/refugium for filtration
4. heater
5. strong lighting (for corals PC is fine and relatively expensive)
6. protein skimmer
7. some type of flow (powerheads do a great job)
8. sand
9. liverock
10. fish
= happy fish, corals, nice tank, and natural stress reducer.

Yes, I'll have corals i'm not sure what kind but i'd rather have the gear to keep all of them, an overflow, reef ready tank and i think ill get a sump

You'll need everything fish_wiz listed plus test kits: Ammonia, Nitrate, Phosphate, pH, Calcium, alkalinity, Magnesium
For cycling all you'll need is: test kits (Nitrate, Nitrite and Ammonia), Tank, Stand, Heater, Rock, Sand, Sump, Return Pump, Plumbing, salt, water, thermometer, power heads.
You may or may not run lights and protein skimmer during this period, different people have different opinions.
Which cycling your tank you can buy the other things you will need since cycling takes a while and you can stretch out buying things to be easier on your bank account.
