A few questions.....

Hey, I'm looking into buying a blue gig.
It's been at the lfs for close to a month now, I know is been eating.
Problem is it is bleached quite heavily, now it has gotten better.
It seems to be in good shape other than that, the mouth is fairly tight, but is open slightly. Here is a crappy iPhone pic but you get the jist.



It is about 12-14" in size. Is there anything you guys can recommend? My buddy has a large green and purple that he has had for a couple years, so helps not too far away. I have been doing saltwater for a little over ten years now, had a lot of things but not ever had I had a gig. I done a lot of reading over the last little bit, just wondering if I should go ahead and dive in.
The tank I have now is 315 gallons, been running for about a year and a half, so it's stable now after the upgrade. There are only 7 fish in the tank, mostly large tangs. I realize there is a chance of loosing one(tang), but if this works out, I may get another gig. down the road.
Lighting is 4- 60" sunbrite LEDs, so lots of light, also, a good amount of flow in the tank as well.
Is there something I should be concerned with?

If it been in the shop for 1 months, I would get in in a heart beat. That anemone is over what kill most Gigantea. If you can provide optimal condition for him, he should do well. Regarding getting healthy Gigantea, you won't be able to find newly import Gigantea in much better condition than that.
Not that he is healthy because he is not. However, there is nothing there that cannot be fix with proper condition so that he will thrive.

Thanks, I appreciate the quick response. Also thats kind of what I wanted to hear. It is rather large for most tanks around here, so i knew i could wait it out a bit to see how it was going to do. I can safely say it has been a good month, so I was also thinking it would be on the safer side.
I do have another question, Ive read that having BTA in the tank may affect the gig? Is there any truth to this, cant seem to get a solid answer. I do have 3 RBTA's in there as we speak but could easily get them out if need be.

IMO you need to take it in a case by case basis. I have a Gig and two Mags together. One Mag and the Gig are doing great. The other Mag I need to move because its stressed. When I had an RBTA with my Hadoni, I had to remove the RBTA. It may, or may not work out. Just be prepared regardless.
