A few wave box questions.

Hi Roger,

I have all the rock out of my tank "cooking" the PO4 out in tubs right now so I have an opportunity to redo my rockwork and circulation as well.
With the wavebox it seems that lower islands of rocks seem would be more effective than the tall, imposing mountains most of us have.

The wave box looks great and appears to have the ability to give that extra something to furrent that most of us are always looking for.

I was hoping you could answer a few quick questions.
I have done a search but couldn't seem to come up with the answers.

The dimensions of the box inside the tank are L 4.9" x W 4.4" x H 11.8".
What are the dimensions on the outside of the tank?

How much clearance does the hood need from the sides?

Will these be able to be mounted to AGA tanks securely without the need for anything extra?

What maintenance is required and the frequency?

And finally, when is, and how many are in, the next shipment?

Thanks,
Sean

The rockwork changes the frequency but will not affect function, you just will have to tune it differently. Certainly it works better if the rock isnt densely packed against the glass- "The Berlin Wall Method" as I call it. Fortunately most people don't do this anymore.

Only about 1" in height is above the water line, I don't think anything but the holder sticks out above the frame. It uses two of the holders like on the Stream pump but we now include all the parts you would need for AGA tanks and the magnet holder could eliminate this.

Inside is basically a Stream pump. This will need cleaning every 6 months in normal conditions, in high calcium, alk situations every 2-3 months wouldn't be a bad idea.

I have not recieved any yet. No units have been formally released but I would be sure a few authors and shops in Germany and France have demo and beta test models by now. They should come in soon and I will try to get an exact date tomorrow.

One question here: How many magnetic holders I gonna need for the wavebox; one or two? (I just placed an order for the wavebox and need to place the addicional order for the holder).
By the way, my tank is 0.5"thick.
Thanks again

Let us wait until the final version is available. I only have a prototype and it was made differently and I cannot test this. You would only need one but this might be a case wher it is better to go one size bigger.

Thanks Roger.
Are you planning on attending MACNA in D.C. next year?
I for one am.
Can't miss another episode like the drama in the lounge lol.

Sean, the first waveboxes will be out in the last week of October or first week of November.

Roger,
Thanks for the info.
Quick follow up question.
On an 180 (72x24x24) would two waveboxes be better side by side or one on each end?
Thanks,
Sean

It is more fun to just use one- here is why.

Controller 6091 for the wavebox has 2 cables exiting it. The box has three jumper postions

Synchron
Inverse
Solo

In Solo mode you can connect the auxillary cable to your multicontroller and add all the features of the multicontroller to the wavebox. The result is after a few hours of wavebox action the "tide" can subside and a Stream kicks on and at night you can have the wavebox turn off. The device really shines when you just use one with streams and a multicontroller IMO.

I see what you are saying.
I don't like any powerheads in my tank though.
If I were to put two WB's in are they wired to work together?
If so, can one be on the opposite side of the tank or should they both be on the same end?

My main goal for purchasing them is for water circulation through acro polyps.
ESPECIALLY, the polyps lower on colonies.
Ya know, the one's we ignore. :0

Two waveboxes just really wouldn't be effective they would have to work together to work at all. I would seriously consider running one stream and one wavebox. The wavebox is very effective and lifting and suspending detritus but the debris just rocks back and forth and some directional current is required to carry the debris to the filters.

Awww man. lol
Ok Roger, I am in a corner with nowhere to go.
Single wavebox for me...until I upgrade...again. :smokin:

It creates waves from a box of course. :)

Well Roger, it is the first week of Novemeber and I have been diligent in not bothering you...until now. :D

Are the Waveboxes still set to roll out in mid-November?
Thanks,
Sean

Sean, I think we are still on schedule, mid to late November. I will learn more about the status tomorrow. The manual is finished and I think their will be no further delay. The wavebox should work on any tank more than 27.5" long. Given the size though I wouldn't use it on less than a 75.
