In the thread below I talked about a DJ strip that had a bad outlet in it. I also talked about the fact that I had a GFCI popping on me and I thought it was just the fact that I was using a relatively cheap plug in type.

It wasn't until just tonight that I put together the fact that the two were very likely related (I haven't had a problem with the GFCI since I uninstalled the DJ strip).
This reiterates two points, one of which I rather unintelligently forgot:
1) You should definitely have a GFCI for the circuits your tanks run on.
2) When a GFCI trips it is often for a real reason and you should rule out all possibilities before you assume that the GFCI is faulty.
A while ago my Dad told me about an electrician he worked with who thought he had a bad (over sensitive) GFCI because it kept tripping on him when he was using a power tool. He also forgot rule number two, bypassed the GFCI, and paid for it with his life when he fired up the saw...
I'll assume that GFCI tripping saved me from a much bigger problem, but even if it didn't I thought I should post this.
