A fun ID

The tail markings make me just about positive that it is a latz, but I agree with you. Some wholesaler is ****ed off at one of his floor workers for pulling that latz when filling a saddleback order.

Here's the thing, the lfs got a latz in a week ago, and sold it before I got there. They got another in this week, so I went to get it. Last one was big I was told and sold for $99. This one was smaller, $69. Well I looked all over the store and didn't see a latz. I saw this little guy, and asked how much. Lfs worker said it came in as a sebae, but didn't know what he was, price $12.99. I said I'd take him. I also asked about the latz, and was pointed to the tank he was in. There was a Clark looking clown of about 3-1/2 nestled in a sebae anemone. I'm thinking maybe the lfs got a small latz and a large sebae (Clark) from the wholesaler and got them mixed up???

I think you hit the nail on the head. There was a latz on their price list, they just didn't know enough to know which fish it was. :D

Adtravels, all I can tell you is that I have personally raised hundred of clarkii clowns from larvae to several months of age, and this guy looks very little like a clarkii juvie.

i thought so...

Thanks for all the help folks. After decades in the hobby this is the first and ONLY time I've seen a latz in one of my lfs. What are the odds of lightning striking the SAME place twice?????

Odds might be OK if you are a little proactive. You are going to have to tell the LFS that you are interested in some more.
Of course you might have to explain why you don't want that clarki that they think is a Latz and that you bought the real one for $13. ;)

You can be as proactive as you want. But in Southern VA? Not a chance.

Marina, you must be an optimist, as I think the same thing, two in Southern VA, not gonna happen. Phender, I was thinking the same as you too about being proactive, figured I'd have to shell out $70. for a large Clarks so they wouldn't keep telling me, latz, yeah we have one now!
