A General Guide to Salt Mixes

I have a 5 gallon mix bag I can send you... Just make sure you do not add the calcium to the new water...That will be the hard part. You can test everything put not sure how you can test the calcium part. I guess if you add it REAL REAL slow with RO water it might work. But anytime I add the calcium to the mixing water it clouds up and precipitates....

that doesn't sound very user friendly

I didn't realize that this was a 2-part formula. I've seen this before.

I think I'll pass on this one, but thanks anyway. :)

Does anyone use Tunze Reef salt? Its results look dead on of what my tank is. 420, 9 ALK and 1350-1400 mag.

Anyone else use it? I need to buy some salt!

You don't hear of too many people using Tunze salt. Dr Mac was using it for a while and was very pleased with it. He said it mixed as stated as well.

who uses Red Sea Coral Pro?? I ordered some from Dr. Foster taking advantage of their 5.99 shipping...just received it today (man, they have FAST shipping too)...I want to try it because I am dosing vodka and need to keep my alk around 8...with Oceanic it was staying around 10-11.(even up to 12 at one point)..anyone use it and how do you like it?

$5.99 shipping on a bucket?

Yes, the biggest bucket. I got 2 gallons of tech M, 2 bottles of MB7, some lugols, some AA, some Potassium...3 different kinds of food, and the biggest bucket of red sea coral pro.... all for 5.99 shipping! it is a limited deal so jump in and order some stuff.

Yep, got 2 boxes of 200g mix of IO RC plus a few other small items I've been wanting. $5.99!!! Crazy thing is shipping from them with their standard cheapest shipping method usually takes a long time to get to me. The salt got to me in 2 days. I was shocked. The rest of the order came separate a week later which is about what I'm used to from them.

I'm satisfied with Red Sea Coral Pro. I've been using it for 11 months. Low Alk, but that's ok with me. Low in Potassium (based on old study)

I've been wondering what the long term affects of the "anti caking" agents do in our tanks. I've learned that most manufacturers use them. Do you think they cause any long term problems. Such as create a phosphate problem, or just choke your refugium. thoughts?
As previously posted, I've mixed up a 25g batch of Get Tanked Salt. The salt mixed up very easily, very clear and on point with the big three paramaters (as advertised). Can anyone help Get Tanked lower their shipping costs??

The only way it can be done is get a large group together and get a freight price. It is great salt. I am struggling trying to decide to stick with the get tanked or switch to Seachem. I really like the GT but I need to order a good amount of it so Garry delivers it. Then I run into storage issues....Were if I go with Seachem I can get a few buckets at a time and just order it as I need it.....The decision is not easy because I really like the way my tanks look.............:hammer:

Thank you Billy, and all that have contributed to this thread. I've been away from reefkeeping for about 10 years (amazing how much has changed.) This has been a huge help in getting back back up to speed.
