A good beginner Coral

I wanted to know if you guys could suggest a good beginner's coral. Something not too fragile and not too expensive. Hook a pick up if ya could. Thanks.

Sounds good. I have a horse shoe crab, cleaner shrimp, peppermint shrimp, clown, two diamond gobies and a coral beauty, choc. chip starfish and a brittle star. Will any of them be a problem?

The only thing I see that you have that would not be good with corals is your choc chip starfish. It will more than likely eat whatever you put in there. Theres also a chance that the coral beauty will nip at corals but not as big of a threat as the starfish. xenia is a good start they do grow fast and to some they don't like them. but that's just an opinion if you like them who cares who don't. Personaly I like them they bring alittle life to the tank.

It's not that I don't like them! They will take over a tank real fast under the right conditions! If that is OK then no problem. I have pumping xenia that took over my 185 at one time so I speak from experiance. That being said if you like them go for it!!!

I have a few zoo's for starters and a sps that is good and hardy I could get you some if you come over to the boro some time.

I have some gorgeous pulsing Xenia if you want. Theya re actually very beautiful and do bring life to the tank. I have 4 frag sized at 2-3" ready, but you only want 1 of any Xen frag.

I just cut mine back or frag it out, but the movement is awesome.

I may be taking you guys up on your offers pretty soon. Let me get my new sump and protein skimmer setup and we'll be talking some more. Ive got a bit more reading to do. I wanted to get some of you all's input first. I think Im gonna just half to break down and join this club!

You want some buttons or shrooms, come on over, we'll chip some off. I'm overrun. You prob want to get rid of that star though before you start stocking.

You will probably have to get rid of the coral beauty. More chances than not, It will constantly pick at ANYTHING growing. But I don't even think an army of dwarf angels could wipe out a Xenia colony!

I would have to agree with getting rid of the CB I noticed mine starting to nip at things now so I have to fish him out.

Wow, I have never had a problem with my CB's. I have had 2 of them and they did not nip at anything. I also have a Koran angel and a Passer angel that do not mess with anything. I got them all as tiny babies, so that may have something to do with it. I guess it depends on the situation.
