Hello just moved in at USF in tampa and brought my little 8 gallon bio-cube; its all set up and running now just wondering what a good fish store is around here. Also any free stuff would be greatly appreciated.

Creative Aquariums of Tampa
Corals and Fins
FAOIS
Coral Corral
Marine Warehouse
Fish20

I'm sure there's probably more.

FYI. Asking for free stuff it a pretty big turn off to anyone that paid for what your asking for for free. A better bet would be to wait until you see someone offering free stuff. I understand your request was probably innocent but just a heads up.

There is a sticky at the top of the forum that lists the local stores that are TBRC sponsors.

Corals and fins is probably the closest one to you and they arguably have the best prices in the area. If you have a facebook, follow his page on there--he does daily deals offering RIDICULOUS prices.

Wow not trying to flame here but he is one of the prices places for fish in the tampabay area. He usually a good $10 or more on almost any fish than say coral coral, creative or Marine Wharehouse not sure about his daily deals but on some of the higher end fish he in my opinion is out there. There coral though is pretty good deal and they are willing to frag some of there big stuff which is pretty awesome.

Were is that

Also the new place on 66th A tropical seems not to bad price is kind of middle range.

From my experience corals and fins has been the cheapest in everything, and marine warehouse, coral corral and creative are much pricier, I've seen instances where other stores purchase from corals and fins to resell, that's how cheap he sells. To be honest, it's a general consensus among the tampa bay reefing community that corals and fins is the cheapest around town. I wish they were a sponser of the TBRC, but my guess is they don't advertisement and rely on word of mouth.

Well I will have to go see now maybe its a newer thing, but several months ago I went to look to buy a blue throat trigger, Coral Corall had one for 79.00, Creative had for 69.00, marine was 80, and fins and skins was 90. Same thing when I went to buy a mimic tang there was 59 and everybody else was in the 40's. I actually stop going there to buy fish because they were always more and my dumb butt will drive all over Tampabay area to find that deal and end up spending more on gas lol . Now if things have change cool I will try it out I actually like the place the staff is pretty cool.

what does everyone think of Fish and other Ichthy Things in Oldsmar? I bought a nice pair of ocelaris at a very fair price.

Prices are cheap but sometimes you get what you pay for

Agreed. At times I notice that their stock doesn't look as healthy as I would like. I will spend more and go to FAOIS because of the livestock. I've never seen anything questionable there, not even remotely..

I only buy my fish from mostly two places.

FAOIS and Diver Den (when I want something rare).

For me a least one of the most important question is. Which FS has the same parameters that I have in my tank.
There is nothing more irritating then buying a fish that been at the store at 1.018

Why do i want to go through that crap of trying to acclimate to my 1.025
Would take forever to do it properly, and my pH always matches the store.

I just a got a starry blenny and banana wrasse couple of week ago. They both started to eat within minutes of me placing them in the tank. Swimming in the wide open and the bleeny was jumping ledges all over place eating algae , like they been here before.

FAOIS alway has a healthy stock and plus an easy acclimation is a win win for me.

So many nice establishments to choose from.

We have it too good, we are very spoiled compared to the rest of the country.
