A little advice

Been a long time lurker and decided to join up and ask a few questions.

I have been a reefer for about 2 years now and have wanted a tank specifically for an anemone and a couple true percs.

I have a 10g tank that I setup a few months ago with rock, sand and water from my 30g with the clowns and want to place the anemone in there.

My question is, with that size of tank and the lighting being 7w per gallon of pc lighting, what are my best anemone options??

I do not have a skimmer on this tank but do regular 10-15% water changes every week.

Any and all suggestions are welcome.
Thanks!!

Well to be honest I dont think an anemone will last to long in your tank.Ive done it but it takes alot of experience and knowledge to do so.Ive kept a Ritteri anemone In a 10 gallon tank before for 2 years and it worked for a litte bit.I dont ever keep anemones in 10 gallon tanks anymore unless they are a Condy anemone. You might get away with a bubble tip but it jusy wont last forever is all Im saying.

Yea, I wouldn't do any hosting anemone in a 10 gallon tank -- they will all out grow it. Then factor in the waste issues in a smaller tank, IMO, it just doesn't work out well. Might work short term, but won't long term.

ah ok. never really thought so much about the tank size in the factor. I will wait until I get a bigger tank to do this then.
Thanks for the great advice!

If you want a tank with only clowns and anemones, get at least a 20. You CAN get by with PC lights, but I would suggest putting a bit more money in and getting some T5. Wattage doesn't really matter much to me, it's the type of lights. I'm keeping lots of BTA in my 34g under 110w PC and they're doing great, but in a few months I'l going to be adding a 28g NanoCube with 150w of Metal Halide HQI and I'm planning on moving all my anemones into it along with my pair of Black Ocellaris. It will be an anemone and clown only tank - so basically a breeding tank for my clowns where they will have peace to lay eggs and they won't need to guard the eggs since nothing will be in there to eat them. Also, I find that 8"+ anemones seem to be hardier than the smaller ones. I have a 15" GBTA that I bought yesterday, a 10"+ GBTA that I got about a month ago, and a 10"+ RBTA that I've had about a year. This is just saying that you can get by with a little less than 3w of PC per gallon. Again, I'm not recommending it, I'm just pointing it out. Here's what I think you should do if you have the time and money to put into this...

20g (at least) that is longer than deeper
150w MH-HQI (you will be able to get by with T5)
3" Sand Bed
25 or more pounds of live rock
200-300 GPH filter
80w heater

All of that onced set up should be AT THE LEAST $750. Once you add in the cost of a few BTA it should be at least $1,000. You could do it cheaper and cut corners, but If you really want to put your time, effort, and money into this there is a price to pay. Hope this helps! :D
