So I decided to go ahead and use the Kilz since I already had it. I picked up some paint to topcoat it with. Hopefully it will look pretty good. Here's a pic after the kilz.

For future projects, us some rubberized coating for marine application, like boat decks (commercial) foor the insode floor. Kilz isn't waterproof..it's primer. I even thought of having mine Line-x'd when I build one. Won't cost too much to do

another small update. I've been working on skinning the outside of the stand. So far I have the sides and back done. Just need to get the front on so I can start the trim work. Front and sides are red oak and the back is just standard plywood. I'll be putting doors on both side panels.

I was out of town most of this weekend so its still not finished. I did get the front put on and started working on the trimwork. This is the only decent picture I've taken recently.

I did get some acrylic though so hopefully once the stand is done I can start on the sump.

Thanks guys. I don't have the sump design done yet. I know pretty much what the overall size will be and I'm leaning towards 3 sections for skimmer, return, fuge with the return being in the center but that's about as far as I've gotten. I'm definitely open to ideas/tips.
I found a couple more pics that were taken after I had a little more of the trim done.

what dimensions are you gonna use fo the sump. I can draw up a few quick ideas for you. My latest sump is working very efficently and micro bubble free! I have built abunch in the past and kinda know what mistakes not to make now, lol.... Also any pref on layout ie.. Fuge --->return<---- skimmer ....... skimmer ---->fuge ----->return

Overall dimemsions will be about 48" x 20" x 20". I was thinking skimmer->return<-fuge. After looking around at a few on melev's site I was planning to take my dual overflows and combine them in a horizontal pipe and have each end feeding the skimmer and fuge with a valve to control flow to each section. I'd certainly appreciate any experienced ideas though.

I'm almost done with it for now since I plan to wait until the tank arrives to finish the top trim. I'm going to be making a lip around the bottom of the tank so I want to make sure I have the exact dimensions before I finish up that part.
I'm not sure if I want to start making doors next or working on the sump.

Thanks, its a 67 coupe. Its still gutted right now. Just finished replacing the floorpans and front torque boxes. I have pretty much abandoned working on it until I get the new tank set up though.
