my daughter help me edited this video, she picked the song, lol, i know its cheezy :D

we also did some work in the basement, wanted to route the the hot and cold plumbing inside of the room that is to be built, i really wanted blue and red pex plumbing but that didnt work out, so white only,

also installed a much wanted sump backup pump,
image.aspx

rerouted all the sump plumbing off away from the concrete wall, so when the room wall is built it be one less thing to deal with,

hopefully framing will be next, not sure what to do about the insulation that is all ready there... i have talked to many poeple that have redone there basement and they told me many different things to do... please any advice is appreicated :)

Robert also mention that there will be a more powerful plasma unit out soon, dont know the details or specs yet, very excited :D

Robert at StrayLightOptical sent me this picture awhile ago as a teaser thought I pass it along :D,
it was a sneak peak at the new Seashine Plasma Aquariums lights:
image.aspx

at first glance they relocated the ac-dc ps making for a more compact package,
zoomed into the pic to see that they are using a different emitter STA-41 instead of the STA-40 emitter, very execiting!
they redesigned for a bigger reflector too!

more pics to come :)

Robert allowed me to tradeup my older STA-40 emitter unit for this newer STA-41 emitter unit,
here some are pic of the new emitter and reflector:
image.aspx

the reflector is huge now!
image.aspx

much better design and quality on the reflector housing,

here are some more pic of the actual reflector:

they have redesigned the actual reflector and used a different material, the quality is far much better than the previous,

the STA-41 emitter plasma bulb, notice the halide material inside the bulb,

more details to come :)

Holy Cow !! That light is sweet..Better call the Electric company to install a few barrings on that wheel that spins in the meter lol

lol, thanks, i will have a total of 800watts max, 2x 300watt plasmas, and 2x 100watt blue leds, all fixtures will be dimmable so hopefully the avg will be less :)

Everything still looks great! Your daughter is gorgeous :)
thanks so much for the kind words

I was pretty impressed and am still with the new flector housing design, here a pic of them both,
image.aspx

i was initially impressed too at the new flector design, the new material, the new foldings in the material, the thought here was maybe its was for concentrating the light or something, but that soon faded and turned to dissapointment. i am not a fan of the light pattern its making,
image.aspx

this is the pattern from one fixture, looks like we can almost play tic-tac-toe! the pattern is not defined as the older reflector, wth?!!
image.aspx

more pics to come,

i am not liking the new reflector at all, so i am attempting to create a reflector that gives me the same pattern as the older fixture did but better, found a DIY lumen reflector drawing, so here it goes :bounce1:

this is a pic of there new reflector design, looks great but function not so well...
image.aspx

here the DIY reflector scaled down and made of paper, just for test, felt like a kid again, folding and cutting paper things :)
image.aspx

heres one made of aluminium, it was much harder to work with than the paper, this one is for test as well, i need better tools :D
image.aspx

heres another look at there reflector pattern:
image.aspx

heres the DIY reflector pattern, i liking it more, still needs tweaking :)
image.aspx

thanks! it actually more horible than it looks, i need better tools to cut the material as easily as i was doing with the razor and paper.

i was thinking about polishing it but after watching a youtube video it looks wayyyy to hard, i might just paint it flat white for test, they say its pretty reflective, upwards of 90%. once i get the pattern i want and get a hold on the construction techniques i am going to order some 95% reflective material for final build.

Harbor freight has electric shears pretty cheap. To polish try the powerball from mguires On a drill, that powerball has worked miracles for me :)

so i decided to paint the diy reflector to white from the raw aluminium,
image.aspx

to my surprize i think its is worst, what happen to "upward of 90%"! sucks!!
image.aspx

so after the white paint no go issue, i needed the correct reflective material even more, ordering just takes tooo long, so i was willing to give polishing a try,

on the left side is the raw aluminium which doesnt reflect the other half of camera at all, and on the right side is after polishing, i was totally amazed at the transformation!
image.aspx

this is a pic of the reflection of what i used to polished with,
