A moment of silence please...

I would like to ask everyone to please take a moment of silence for "Fin". Fin was my Hi-fin Banded Goby, a straping young fish with his whole life ahead of him. I had noticed he had been absent last night during my usual feeding ritual, so this morning I took my entire nano tank apart to find my beloved Fin. Just as I was removing the last rock from the tank I looked down and to my horror there was fin....dried up and brittle. It appears that I must have left the top open during some regular maintenace and Fin saw his chance at escape...although I did not see his olympic grade jump I know it must have spectacular! I can only hope Fin is in a better place, (other than my toilet) and that he is filling himself up on mysis shrimp and baby brine. I will be seeking out Fin2 in the next couple of weeks. Thanks for your prayers.

I know how you feel. My 90 got ich two weeks ago. I lost my true perc pair, my beta, my six line, my flame angel and flameback angel. The only change I made to the tank was putting a nub of zoanthids I got in trade into the tank. I still do not know what caused it. That was the most stable tank I have. Never had a disease in the four years it has been running. I was able to save my hippo and sailfin. I fed the tank ginger root. Withing two days the hippo went from laying on the bottom near dead to totally cured. Sailfin took four days. Unfortunately I didn't try it until almost the entire tank was dead or near dead. I always had luck with garlic in my other tanks but it did nothing with this one.

Two days ago I had one of my green chromis do a suicide flop right in front of me. I dropped her back in the tank and she has a new lease on life so I was lucky there.

Aw sorry Denise.
I know I cried when I found my 8 yr old hippo on the floor.

Sorry for you also Gooch. I had a near wipeout once many years ago (I think it was velvet disease from adding a bunch of new live rock and the tank cycling again a bit)
After that I used my Sano products and never lost fish again due to ich.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned anything along the line of "Will make sure the tank is covered from now on".
