Well, the zeo way is more expensive than DSB in combination with Prodibio. But even with my old system I used some zeo stuff to increase the colors.
But with a zeo filter you'll not lose many inches of the height. you can use the filter in the sump an you can adapt the flow and the material change interval. For my opinion bigest disadvantage of a DSB is you have no possibility to control the system. I mean a DSB runs very well but what happens after 10 years? I don't know.

That was my orientation. A natural reef in the Red Sea:

Thanks a lot! My old reef was just a "stone wall". I am proud to reached my goal to create a natural looking reef with pillars.

The most are frags from my old reef, then some frags from friends and some import pieces from Bali.

It's German. There is no difference between the written German from Germany and Switzerland.

how did you get the pillars to stand without tipping over and are the corals "glued in place" secondly how often do you prune the corals? does pruning help keep the corals colorful? The reason i ask is usually new growth on stonies are colorful and the older part of the coral are usually not as vibrant? thirdly how much water movement do you now have in this reef and the size of your tank?

Great looking reef so far Iwan, even though your old tank was much more vibrant in coloration, this one looks like it will achieve the same results in the long run and look very realistic. Great job

I have built the pillars so that they stand stably. This was already a challenge because I have planned some overhangs. I have used dead reef rock. Through this I could build the pillars at leisure. I have fixed the stones with a special concrete.

The big corals were also colored in the old reef. I never had problems that big corals were colored only at the top.

The size of this tank is 67x28x28, the water movement is 5560 g/h

No, never. But a jodine bath can solve some problems.

Thanks. I hope that I have room for growth. This point in mind I placed only frags in the new reef.

Do you espect problems with shadowing when the corals start to grow on the overhangs en grow over the corals that stand underneath?

Iwan, I like how you hide the Tunze, looks like natural rock. What did you use to get this look? Also could we get an update on your maintence, water change, zeo products, etc. looks great!!!!
