A "peaceful" coexistence?

Are there any fish that can be safely (both for the fish and the shrimp) kept in the same tank with a wrenne?

I was thinking a dwarf lion fish.

Any thoughts?

My wennerae currently resides with a yellow tailed damsel. They've been together for months.

Note that this is the 2nd damsel - Mantis killed the first

i dont know about a n. wenn killing a lion fish, but from what has been posted here i think the score is something like mantis 5 lion fish 0.

im gonna go ahead and say no. it won't work very well. lion may try to eat the mantis or the mantis may kill the lion, or the lion may eat the mantis and the mantis will kill the lion from inside it's mouth. fun times.

i think the prob. with lion fish is the think the mantis might be food.

and if they opt to take a closer look, thats no good for anybody.

with a wenn. id say small fish under 20 bucks that stay in the water column.

vary from that and you take the risk of being sad and out a couple bucks:D

i agree with the damsel. Or a fish that is big enough to intimidate it. My G. smithii gets freaked any time my foxface comes near. i may just have a wussy mantis though.

firefish would probably to well too but you'll need a lid because they're jumpers.

My N.wnnera made a premptive strike and took out the Lion I tried. Oddly enough we were BOTH having fish for dinner that night. Small and fast are what you are looking for. I have been hesitant to try it but a small, more docile Pseudochromis may work also. I personally don't think a firefish would fair too well. While I would be hard pressed to think of a Damsel I have lost to a Mantis I can't think of a mantis I have owned who hasn't at least made the attempt when possible.

I've kept mine in a 24g with 2 damsels and a dottyback. The fish swim right by him with no consequence. Mine only loves baby hermits and bloodworms.

And mantis are very different too. Each has its own personality. I keep a black molly with my 7" peacock. I threw it in there as food, but now I have to feed it...lol.

My Chromis scare my Wennerae so he stays in his hole unless he gets really hungry or I put food within an inch of the entrance. I'd take them out but I can't catch them with out destroying the tank.
