A. percula color fade with H. magnifica

I've been to Rod's place and seen his operation. He does keep the juvi's in tanks without anemone's, but I dont know if they are tied into the same system as the anemones.

Rod?

BTW, Gorgeous clowns Minh!

i wanted to update on my large percula female. ive owned the fish for almost two years now and it had not gone through any significant color changes until about a week ago. in a very short amount of time, the thin black outlining her fins has increased to a thick bold outline. she has black smudges or patches on her face and fins. no longer are her bright colors uniform and smooth, but dull, splotchy and black.

an interesting change. any thoughts? i would imagine it has more to do with age than environmental conditions, due to of all the very old occellaris females ill see brought back to fish stores from time to time. they look very similar with the thick black bordering all the fins and the blotchy patches over the body.

ill try to get a picture for comparison up soon.

Update on my pair:
I remove them from the H. magnifica tank and put them in my tank with two H. malu. The color came back and they as Onyx as ever and start to breed in there.
Last 6 weeks or so they are in a breeder tank and continue to breed, without an anemone, and as colorful and black as ever. A friend of mine is raising the babies. Still too young yet to tell how they turn out yet, but according to Rod, there will be 90+% onyx.
