A pic of my 75 g today 1 year details.

They were just geting too big from me not keeping them trimmed down. They were also growing upwards and outward, so you couldnt even see them well unless you looked down on them, otherwise you mostly saw the underside of them. They caused dark shadows below them causing the side of my tank to look dark. So I got tired of them.

I thought it would be fun to see them really big, mistake. I really alreay like the look better with most of them gone. I think I will have zoos cover the area.

I ordered more zoos to replace the montis. My tank is soo much brighter without the caps creating shade, I am really glad i removed them. The tank even looks bigger.

That's what I am finding too. They grow big fast & shade out the other corals. Problem is if you place them too low they may loose their color because of lack of flow & lights. Too high & the act like a shading umbrella.

I was going to get all sorts of monti's, but I seemed to have changed my mind now.

I am really happy with my montis gone, but then again I was really happy when I first got them and watched them grow. I just got my shipment of three zoos from Under the Sea . They will go in place where the montis were and by this weekend I will take some pics. I also added 2 feathe dusters. I still need two more candy canes to go with all my other candy cane corals. I am also thinking of adding an Anthias.

You seem like you would appreciate some nice green frilly mushrooms. Check these out.

I have seen some really nice lavender ones too, still trying to score on those.

These mushrooms for whatever reason are light hogs. They will loose their color if placed lower in the tank & only gain the green color if placed higher. They started out as colorless/brown shrooms.

This is how I got them.

BTW, you have inspired me to get a pink tip hammer. I really like your hammer. Did you say it was the branching type?

I finally had a minute to get a full tank pic. First one since I removed the caps. The zoos have alot of space to fill now.

Close up of my flowe pot alveopora.
This one of my favorit corals, but since adding MH light my anenome has gotten huge and is brushing up against half of this guy.

Forgot to mention, I switched my MH lights back to 10k, the 15k was too blue for me, after seeing both I am very happy with the XM 10k supplemented with actnic VHO.

Hey Tony, I love your tank! i liked the montis alot though, hehe, but i understand what your saying about the shading

Out of curiosity, how long have you had your blonde naso in there?

I just started a 75g and was so stoked to finally have a few more larger fish, and wanted a blonde sooo badly, but after researching, i came to the conclusion they need atleast a 6' tank, but yours seems to be really healthy, any input on him?? this could change my mind,

thanks!

Thanks smoke
Everyone will disagree with me about my Naso. I have had her for 2 years. She is my favorit fish, and very healthy. Very freindly fish, when I take pictures of the tank she is always in the way.
I guess one day she will maybe be too big, but I definately feal the size tank controls their growth.
I still have a tiny piece of the orange monti cap where the large one was, as it grows I will keep it trimed down small, not let it get out of control.

hey tony!! thats great to hear dude! you have definatly changed my mind, we get them at work as small babies sometimes, they look a tad bit ugly, but itll do when he/she grows, :) i just hope there will be a little bit of streamers on the tail

what do you feed her? spirulina and frozen?

really cool tank man! if you have any frags of that cap lying around send it over this way!! :bum:
