A pic of my 75 g today 1 year details.

One more of the banana.
So far after 1 week he has gone after the hermits, but he leaves everything else alone. I still have all my shrimp.

I was looking for a sixline wrasse to help eat the flatworms, but the fish store in NJ did not have any, but they had this guy.Hopefully he will eat some flatworms.

What store in NJ? I used to live on the PA boarder in Jersey :)

The store is called Aquarium Center in Clementon Nj, . It has a great selection of fresh and saltwater fish. Live rock, inverts , one large tank of corals. Tons of dry goods.
Here is there link
Aquarium Center

Thanks RJ
I was just down at my tank checking my sump, the carpet was all wet, talk about scared. Then I found the problem a line came off my Liter Meter pump ,so it was dosing the floor.
While I was there trieing to find the leak that wasnt really a leak, I was looking closely at my refugium , I found a Urchin in there. I never bought one of them , and I havnt gotten anything recently it could have come in on , it was about 1/2" moving around the rocks in the refugium, I guess I will just leave him there. Fun still finding hitch hikers.

Hi Tony. Great looking tank - first one i've seen using vho's exclusively. How often have you changed out the bulbs?

One suggestion? maybe putting in your signature the nikon d100...so you don't get all those questions! :D

Koi are amazing fish but prolific eaters/poopers no? Your pics are all red x's on the koi for me...have any recent ones with them in your indoor temp tank?

Thanks for letting us tag along and view your tank!

They are beautiful! I assume you got them smaller and they grew rapidly to that size? They look nice and plump and fat.

Sorry in advance to the moderator/anyone else if asking about freshwater fish is a no-no on a reef forum!

whats the name of the stuff that grows and the tank walls. is it good? anytime i see stuff growing on the walls, i scrub it off

It is coraline algae , it is not bad, alot of people like it. I only clean the front glass and leave the sides and back get covered with the coraline, my rocks are too close to the sidesand back glass to clean them. I like it either way.

Tony, your tank is absolutely amazing. Esp for a year old. I can not get over how clean your sand bed is and how every last color in your tank pops. the 3 big fish are too much for my taste i rather have a bunch of little fish. but i'll be honest w/ you, I can't imagine doing much different then what you have done. the aquascaping is done perfectly. Where did you buy your rock if you don't mind me asking. and does the T4 run as hot as some claim? I will be using MH w/ 4VHO actinics so i dont want to run into too much of a temp problem. And how do you like the sea swirls. i love how you have zero equipment in the tank or managed to hide it as well as you have. Sorry for so many questions, i am just in awe of your tank.

Thanks Thunder
I never wanted to see equipment in the tank. With the two sea swirls you have to look up to see them , otherwise you cannot see them. I didnt even want to see the intake strainer for the closed loop, but now that its in I do not even notice it, and soon the purple monti will totally block it out of view. I like big fish, I would like two more , but obviously i am at my limits, I wish I still had a long nose butterfly, and I love copas tang.
Sea Swirls are excellent btw. You cannot see them , they are silent, they give great changing flow.
The T4 does add heat ,but how much? I do not have MH , I only have 440 watts VHO. I have two small fans in my canopy that run while the lights are on. I also have a third fan plugged into the reef controler set to turn on if the water temps hits 81 , the fan never turns on. The heater however turns on frequently to maintain 80.
Room temp is 68.

from my research, they add between 2-3degrees of heat to the water. thats the avg, i've seen as high at 4.5 and as low as 1degree, of course variables change along w/ tank size. Its the only thing keeping me from using the one i have, and as you i have a 75gallon, its an Oceanic. I can't wait to start setting it up. The reason for the big build up of calcium on the t4 is due to the heat it puts out. or so i've read.
