A place to shop

Not quite sure how to post, this is my first time in a chat or forum.
I am looking for a good place to buy some soft and hard corals. I have tried the lagoon, the monkey store and pet box. Has anybody found some other stores around the island that has salt water items for sell at reasonable prices. I was told that Naha has a good place but i have never got any good directions. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks :strooper:

I have spent lots of money at "the fish lady" (Lagoon). All of the corals I have bought at the petbox havent been really much of anything. Not sure why, I just havent had any luck with there corals. Fish, yes, I have had good luck with there fish, and I have also bought fish from the fish lady.

Here are 2 stores I have bought from that arent listed:

THe store in Naha. (I just went there last weekend for the first time) Its kinda hard to tell you where its at, but here it goes. From Sports Depot parking lot in Naha, turn left (go away from 58) go all the way until you hit 329. The road will T at 329. Go right. Get in the left lane and go all the way until you hit a family mart on the left. Pull in there, and park, then the fish store is on the other side of the road about 50yards down. You will see the lights from the outside. Its just like the lagoon but a much bigger selection of corals. They are all taken from the ocean, but good corals. Also, they are a little cheaper than the lagoon. Its gonna be my new main source for corals. The lady there didn't speak english very well, but she wrote prices down and if we had questions, she could understand us, but didnt know how to speak back to us, so she whipped out her pocket translator.

Another way to get there, take 329 all the way to naha. When you go under the mono-rail get in the left lane. You will go through the intersection FROM sports depot. From there, just follow the directions above FROM where you turn right on 329.

For the other place:
Its a coral farm. Go out gate 2 until you hit 329. turn LEFT on 329 and go up the hill...it will be on your left. It will sneak up on you so you gotta watch out for it. Its a VERY nice store with very nice corals, but your gonna pay. $$. go to there website http://www.ppmokinawa.com find what you want, and print it. then take it in there. I google the web address, then google translates it to an extent where I can understand it. This place is closed on Wensdays and open till 8pm every other day.

ALSO, there is a cafe called "goby cafe and marine aquarium" in american village. I highly recommend this place if you are into corals. Go down by the ferris wheel, look at the ferris wheel and turn around and look up, you will see it. If you go there around 7:30pm you will see the MH lighting. He charges a 300y cover charge if you are going in there to eat, but if you get there right at 8, and just tell him you are there to check out the corals, he will let you in and check them out. This restraunt is in conjunction with the coral farm listed above.

I have been told of other fish stores on island, but these listed above are suspossed to be the best. I have also been told to go out at low tide and you can find your own corals. I have been out 3 times during low tide and havent found anything. :( I am still searching though.

I went to the fish store outside gate 4.. man, i forgot how bad that place was. All there coral looked like it was dieing. guess I'm just to used to going to PPM.

yeah, her store is hit and miss. sometimes I have been in there and thought....why did I even come here. Sometimes I go in there and everything looks really good. I figured out...if you go in there when the low tide is early in the am, she usally has some decent corals. ppm, both my corals (lathers) from them arent doing as hot. although, I do have some h2o issues right now, so that might have something to do with it.

Thanks

Thanks

Thanks for the directions after some twists and turns we managed to find it. The store was ok, but it was hard to get them to sell us anything that we found interesting because everything seemed to be not for sale that particular day.
Just for future reference the store is located on 330, so you can actually take it all the way if you so desire.

Where is the Fish Lady

Where is the Fish Lady

Hi,

We are in the motions to setting up a 55 gal tank. We have the equipment, but I am researching every thing.

Where is the fish lady located?

We have been to the monkey and petbox, but would like to see what the other have to offer.

Thanks:confused:

Look at the top of this thread. I have givin directions to 2 shops. In another thread I give directions to the ppm shop. Its a little more expensive, but you are getting quality bred corals not something picked out of the ocean.

and peelgang. You will notice once you go in the shops alot, that sometimes they dont sell corals. I think its just to they are sure they are selling you a good product. Im not to sure, but thats my thinking. Go back down there next week and they will have it for sale. While in the fish ladys store, I have asked about a few corals and she wont sell them, but you go back in a week and the coral looks much better and she will sell it.

Yea, sometimes PPM wont sell me some of there corals. Not sure why. I really want to get some hammer coral. =( They also had a beautiful white feather duster that I wanted, but it wasnt for sale.

the place in Naha had a few hammer corals for sale. I want one to! im worried about my lights though...

I just realised what place you were talking about down in Naha, you screwed me up saying 329.. that place is on 330. I drive by it every time I drop my girlfriend off at home. Been meaning to go in there, but thought it was all fresh water. definatly going to have to stop there now...

Yes, my bad. it is on 330. I apoligize if anyone has had any confusion.

I went to naha today, the corals arent so hot in there. The lady said many more are in the process of being stocked. I might head back down there again next weekend, not sure though. They have a really huge anenome I want with about 4 clowns hosting in it. I want it sooo bad, but gotta get my new tank set up first.

Ive been wanting to get an anenome, just worry about it attacking my other corals. I'm definatly going to have to swing down there to at least get some hammer corals.

They only had 1 yesterday and it was pretty decently sized. I believe it was 4000y. I want one SOOO BAD!

as for the anenome, I havent had any problems with this one attacking my corals. My plans are to make a long tank with just the anenome and all live rock. See what happens with that.

Any stores sell lighting at a reasonable price?

online man, you dont want to buy lights here. MH's are well over $1000.

I wanted to add to this the Marine Lagoon or as my wife and I call her, " the fish lady"

As if you were to go out of Kadena gate 4 (which is now closed I believe) go across 58 and hang an imediate LEFT. go down there about 500 yards and shes on the right. on the left there is a small grocery store. you can park there, or I just usally park right outside her shop in the street.

if you dont know where gate 4 is, take 58 north. go past Kadena gate 1, then go past kadena Marina. keep going until you come to the McDonalds which will be on the left. Keep going until you see Kadena gate 4 on the right but you are accually going to be turning left at that stoplight. once you turn left, you make an imediate left again. shes down on the right. Shes only open from 3pm-9pm and closed on tuesdays. If you go at night, you cant miss the blue flouresent lights from the inside
