A post of mine in the DIY Forum

nice.. I've heard of using a file to sand down the top of the led so the light is more diffused in the tank.

My pictures really bite. The light isn't as focused as the picture makes it out to be. It does act like a spotlight but most of the tank is has a nice glow. I just want two more that I can angle to hit more of my corals so that I can get that glow that the corals can have when the light hits them. I think anymore than 4 of these will probally be two much light. Once I hook up the other two I will see if I can get a better picture.

b,

when you say local electronics store, are you saying radio shack?

can you give the specs of the adapter

9v, and what are the other numbers

PS: seriously, who would use these LEDs for their intended purpose of holding a license plate on a car?

I went to Gateway Electronics, but after I picked it up I am sure I could have found one laying around my house. No special specs on them. Radio shack would probally work to, but if you are going to buy one Gateway's was 3.95, it would probally cost more at RS.

beats me.

Nice job.

I used a 20 foot cord of Blue LED Indoor/Outdoor Christmas Lights.. After every 4 lights I bunched 5-6 bulbs together with a zip ties then went down 4 more lights and did it again. Worked out great but I have learned you have to keep the lights away from the MH they cause them to burn out quickly do to heat.

I hear that the LED christmas lights or low wattage. I have not looked into them myself, but these really put out some light, and these lights are available year round. Where I have mine placed they should not get direct light from the MH's. Thanks for the Info When I mount my other two they will be more likely to get direct light (thus heat) from the MH's, so I will take that into account.
