A question about Alkalinity

I placed a small piece of 20 day cured diy live rock in a gallon pitcher of freshwater. In a 24hr period it raised the alkalinity by 1 meg/l. If I did this experiment with saltwater would I get the same 1 meg/l alkalinity increase? If this is true I should be able to put the piece in my tank because the increase to my dilluted tank would be 1 meg/l increase for a gallon / 28 gallon tank = .03 meg/l increase for tank. I currently dose 5.6 ml of your part 1 recipe for my tank that replaces .1 meg/l of Alkalinity per day. Are my calculations correct?

Maybe. It might be the same or more or less.

I'm not actually sure what the limiting factors are.

The usual concern is pH rising more so than alkalinity. Just like adding limewater raises pH a lot more than alkalinity.
