a quick check for mg mix

my mg solution is mixed by BRS material (5:3 chloride vs sulfate), in 1G jug, there is about an inch white debris, I believe that is calcium sulfate per following randy's post. I assume I only dose the clear solution not the white impurity, correct? and impurity will not affect the solution's potency?

Per Randy "FWIW, folks mixing clear magnesium sulfate and clear magnesium chloride sometimes get a precipitate of calcium sulfate, which calcium present as an impurity in the magnesium chloride. "

You might be seeing some calcium sulfate, but the mix is a bit slush in general, so I think it's best to shake first, then measure and dose.

hmm...if calcium sulfate is impurity in mg cholride, why do we still want to shake the solution and dose calcium sulfate in water?

Did you let it sit over night? I mixed the same up today and it just took a little longer to get the Mag mix to dissolve, probably because it was half salt, half water.

It's not all calcium sulfate, as I recall. Some of it is just partially-dissolved magnesium sulfate or magnesium chloride.
